Who we are
During the 2022 election, a single donor, Hackman Capital Partners, contributed an unprecedented $600,000 to conservative political organizations with the goal of defeating the two progressives in the race. This developer, which owns Culver Studios, Culver Steps, and Sony Pictures Animation Studios in Culver City, was successful in shifting the balance of power to its current conservative majority.
This majority is now rolling back progressive policies enacted by prior councils like car-free streets, protected bike lanes, and a minimum wage increase for healthcare workers. They have criminalized our unhoused community and bolstered the power of the police department instead of funding important priorities like renovating all of our parks, improving our roads and transit systems, or pursuing proven, permanent solutions to homelessness.
Our Culver is committed to centering the needs of community members, especially the most vulnerable: our renters, seniors on fixed incomes; our children — whose safety is undermined by our car-centric culture; and our unhoused and housing insecure neighbors — who need decent and affordable permanent local housing.
Our Culver imagines a different future: a diverse, affordable, safe, and sustainable city where all can thrive.
